Job Summary
The Software Developer will support the Division of Information Technology’s Center for Internet Augment Research and Assessment (CIARA) to develop software applications for provisioning, troubleshooting, and improving the operations of a Software Defined Networking (SDN) production environment that supports research and education activities between the U.S. and the nations of Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean.
- Follows right Quality Assurance processes with extreme attention to detail.
- Writes high-performance code in C with Linux eBPF and XDP.
- Writes code using Object Orientation concepts and design patterns.
- Optimizes SDN applications for scalability.
- Analyzes, debugs, and delivers clean, validated, maintainable code as well as writing documentation.
- Troubleshoots issues related to existing applications.
- Develops applications and components to suppose the AmLight SDN Controller.
- Designs and implements highly available and high-performance applications in C and Python 3.
- Performs other related duties as required or directed by supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Studies or other technical discipline and three (3) years related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with C
- Experience working with Python 3+
- Experience working with eXpress Data Path (XDP)
- Experience working with Git, Github, and Gitlab.
- Knowledge of Python network libraries (networkx, pcapy, scapy) is highly desired.
- Experience with contributing to open source projects is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of tcpdump and libpcap is a plus.
